Qe1(?) are typically the first one out of our heads. I try... not always successfully mind you.. to always look to see if there is a "better" move.<br/><br/>When your opponent ( in this case... a little girl ;) ) has a good threat ( f2... classic) try to have this trigger the need to find a sharper response. 1.d4 doesn't stand out... but it falls in the "best defence is a good offense" category. Which is sharper than the pure "defensive" move of Qe1. Moves like 11. Qe1(?) are typically the first one out of our heads.
